Jennifer Amuge, Employment Advisor
Originally from Uganda, Jennifer has been in Canada since 2000. She has extensive experience in supporting clients from a variety of backgrounds. In Ontario, Jennifer worked as an Immigrant Settlement Worker for newcomers to Canada. Her employment experience includes working as a frontline worker with the homeless at Rotary House in Grande Prairie. She holds a Business Administration Degree from Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda. Jennifer is presently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work at the Grande Prairie Regional College. She is fluent in Swahili, Luganda, and understands some Somali. As an Employment Advisor at The Work Place, Jennifer provides services to both job seekers and employers.

Joyce Black, Employment Consultant
Joyce has over twenty years’ experience as an Employment Consultant and Workshop Facilitator in both the non-for-profit and public sectors. Prior to joining The Work Place in 2008, Joyce worked in the employment field in Northern Ontario. She has her Bachelor of Education from Queen’s University and is a certified Personality Dimensions facilitator. Joyce has dedicated her career to assisting people in finding meaningful work and enjoys the daily variety and challenge.

  Lisa Aucoin, Employment Consultant
Lisa Aucoin arrived in Grande Prairie, from Southern Ontario, with her family in 2009.  She has a Bachelor's Degree in Psychopathology from Queen's University, and is also a skilled Life Coach Facilitator.  Lisa worked as a Parent Therapist in Ontario for a ten-year period.  She assisted youth in care and biological parents in working together to ensure a safe, nurturing, and rewarding outcome.  In her previous position with Signature Support Services in Grande Prairie, Lisa was employed as a Rehabilitation Practitioner.  As an Employment Consultant at The Work Place, Lisa is available to provide employment-related services to both job seekers and employers.

Denise Derenowski-Carlson, Manager
Denise has a solid background in Career Development, Human Resource Management and Adult Education. As Manager of the Work Place, Denise works with a team of skilled professionals to guide individuals on their pathway to career and employment success.

She holds a Bachelor of Education, with a specialization in Adult Education, from the University of Saskatchewan, a Bachelor of Human Ecology from the University of Manitoba, and is a Certified Life Skills Coach, Medicine Hat College. In 2006, Denise completed her Career Practitioner Certification, and she is a member of the Career Development Association of Alberta.

Carlson & Company Inc., a Grande Prairie-based company, was established in 1990 by Denise Derenowski-Carlson. The company has provided employment and career-related services, needs assessments, and assessments, and employment-based programs for both private and public sector organizations.

 Michelle McCullough, Métis Employment Services Counsellor
Michelle is the Employment Counsellor for Métis Employment Services, Rupertsland Institute.  She has several years’ experience supporting and assisting aboriginal clients, Métis, First Nations and Inuit, in achieving their career, education and employment goals.  Michelle graduated from the Grande Prairie Regional College with an Early Childhood Education Diploma and has taken numerous workshops in the career and employment field.  She has dedicated her career to providing support and encouragement to enable aboriginal clients achieve their goals.

  Retta Moorman, Trades Work for Women/Workshop Facilitator
Retta has over twenty years’ experience in business, marketing and communication. She has been facilitating career and employment-related workshops for Carlson & Company Inc. since 2008. Retta also works part-time as the Program Assistant/Job Developer for Trades Work for Women. Her post-secondary education includes Internet Site Design from the Computer Masters Institute of Technology, Victoria, BC, Graphic Design from the Pacific Design Academy, in Victoria, BC, and Business Careers from Northern Lights College, Dawson Creek, BC.
