Employment Supports

Employment Supports assists individuals to locate and obtain jobs. It connects individuals who are ready, willing and able to work with employers needing to fill jobs. Services are designed to support individuals to enter and re-enter the workforce as quickly as possible and develop the job search skills needed for effective labour market transitions now and in the future. It is designed to assist individuals who have the knowledge, skills and attitudes needed for employment, but require assistance to develop or refine job search skills, make connections to employers, and job maintenance support.

The Objectives are to:

  • Connect eligible individuals seeking work with prospective employers able to provide them with employment as quickly as possible.
  • Enable employers to fill job openings and skill shortages.

Job Seeker Services

  • Assessing skills, exploring options, and identifying action plans.
  • Job search supports and guidance: resumés and cover letter critique and development, self- marketing, interview preparation, and on-line job search skills.
  • Providing information to connect individuals to job opportunities.
  • Job support and follow-up for up to a three-month period following employment.

Job Seeker Eligibility

  • Unemployed or marginally employed Alberta resident.
  • 18 years of age or older.
  • Meet citizenship requirements (e.g. Canadian citizen, permanent resident or convention refugee) and be legally entitled to work and train in Canada.
  • Ready, willing and able to make the commitment to work toward their employment goals.
