Carlson & Company Inc. (operating as The Work Place) is seeking an Employment Advisor. The Work Place offers a wide array of employment services for Albertans. Funding support for the position through Canada Summer Jobs.

APPLICANTS MUST BE:
Between 18 and 30 years of age at the start date of employment, and,

A Canadian citizen, permanent resident, person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment. International students are not eligible participants. Youth awaiting a refugee status ruling, as well as those who hold a temporary visitor visa, youth visa or work visa are ineligible.

You do not need to be returning to school to apply for the position. After the three-month probationary period, there is an opportunity to be offered full-time employment.

Responsibilities

• Complete registration and preliminary assessment
• Present information session via Zoom and in-person, regarding services and in-take process
• Assist Employment Director with month-end reporting and client file management
• Complete 90-day employment follow-up with clients
• Complete targeted job search for specific clients; sending information regarding the job positions
• Assist clients with technology, Zoom, send email orientation
• Provide job search assistance to clients in a professional, respectful and courteous manner
• Provide information regarding services and community resources to job seekers and employers
• Document client information on database
• Set up Northstar, Employment Readiness Scale, Indeed and Job Scan accounts for clients
• Sending reminders for upcoming sessions, appointment reminders

The Skills You Bring

• Post-secondary education in Office/Business Administration, Education, Human Services or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Excellent verbal and written communication as well as receptive listening skills.
• Proven grammar and editing capabilities.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
• Familiarity with virtual technology such as Zoom, WebEx and other virtual-learning platforms.
• Excellent organization and time-management skills.
• Able to handle multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

The individual will work at The Work Place, #105, 9840 – 97th Avenue, Grande Prairie, AB. The job is full-time (37.5 hours a week), Monday to Friday. More information about The Work Place is available at www.gpworkplace.ca
